Experience, proven Technology and outstanding Services equals a winning partnership

Data transmission is a key feature of ePRO technology. If data transmission fails, the data are inaccessible to study personnel. Symfo uses a mix of technologies to transmit eClinical data to cope with the telecommunication network of any country.
The classic wireless data transfer uses GPRS, UMTS or WiFi technology. This technology is also used to synchronize the ePRO diaries deployed in the field when mid study changes occur. These wireless technologies work fine in countries having complete telecommunication coverage such as the USA or Western European countries. However, studies are conducted world wide, causing many wireless systems significant problems; Symfo had to think globally, but act locally.
To solve the problem of countries having less reliable telecommunication technologies, Symfo has developed a unique data transfer technology based on transmission by sound. This acoustic technology allows the transmission of data using ordinary telephone lines (landlines) with no additional equipment. There are no modems to plug in or wires to connect. To send data, the patient simply picks up the handset of a regular household telephone, dials a toll-free number, and places the eDiary next to the receiver. That's all there is to it! The server answers the call using sounds that are interpreted by the eDiary, which in turn sends encrypted data. The entire transmission takes about two minutes, depending on the amount of data being sent.
